Who We Are
Ken has thirty years of experience as a business litigator and trial lawyer. He has tried more than 25 civil and criminal cases to verdict as lead trial counsel in Massachusetts Superior Court, District Court, Juvenile Court, the Fiduciary Litigation Session of the Probate Court, as well as in Federal District Court. He has represented clients in numerous arbitration proceedings and mediations as well.
Ken is also an experienced appellate lawyer. He has argued appeals in the Supreme Judicial Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the District Court Appellate Division and the First Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ken's practice focuses on representing individuals, businesses and non-profits in litigation and in response to government investigations. He has been counsel to clients in matters involving closely held business disputes, healthcare and accounting fraud, shareholder derivative actions, securities litigation, and class action litigation. Ken has represented individuals and companies under investigation by the SEC, the FBI, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office and numerous Offices of Inspectors General.
Ken graduated from Dickinson College with a B.S. in Biology and spent two years working for the U.S. Department of the Interior as a biologist for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Ken’s scientific mind made him apt for detail-oriented work and results focused endeavors. However, with a deep interest in helping people on a more personal level, Ken returned to school and received his J. D. from Northeastern University School of Law.
Since then, Ken has worked at large law firms in Boston and Worcester making a name for himself as a career litigator. At Mirick O'Connell, Ken was chair of the Business Litigation Group and head of the Government Investigations Response and Compliance Team. He now he brings that experience to clients more directly through Pickering Legal LLC.
